Aleta Pippin BioAleta Pippin, contemporary Santa Fe abstract oil and mixed media painter

Aleta Pippin's paintings are about experimentation and process. She delights in her layering technique used when painting in oil. Pippin spreads thin glazes of color upon thin glazes of color - always with a goal of creating visual depth and texture, with energetic, warm, vibrant color.

Pippin’s mixed media paintings are usually done with acrylics, though she is currently experimenting with oils, patinas, composition leaf and resins. She strives for interest in surface texture, as well as for depth and light, as she experiments with these various media to achieve that desired effect.

Courageously experimenting with different techniques and media, eventhough it may cost a painting, Pippin is excited about pushing each painting to a "higher level" and witnessing its unfolding as one would witness a moth becoming a butterfly. The delight she feels as this metamorphosis takes place is palpable and inspirational.

Her paintings are intuitive, a dance with the various media. Music, joy and love are infused in the work. Pippin is more than simply a painter; she is an artist who reaches out with her media to touch each person in the very core of their being, that place in all of us that does not recognize shape or form, but  innately reacts to color, passion, joy and possibility. It is her desire that viewers of her work be moved by the beauty.

Aleta Pippin is co-founder of Pippin Meikle Fine Art. She is a multi-talented person who has had success in art (her paintings are collected internationally) as well as the business world.
